Why LED Lighting?
LED
lighting technology has advanced dramatically over the past
decade. There are now many LED products available that replace
traditional lighting systems. This new LED technology has
been proven to be far more reliable and efficient then current
lighting technologies. LED lighting is the future of "Green
Lighting" in both the residential and commercial sector.
Products that are now being offered in LED include: E26/E27/A19
(Incandescent Replacement), Tubes (Fluorescent Replacement),
PAR/Spot, Reccessed, Flood, Street-Lights, MR16, GU10, Dimmable,
Strip Lights, Tunnel and a variety of other decorative and
low voltage options.
Incandescent Phase-out
(2012)
The US and Canada both have passed legistlation that have
set minimum energy performance standards for general service
lamps that would phase out inefficient light bulbs. In Canada
and the US these standards will be effective by 2012. Most
incandescent (Edison type screw) bulbs will be required
to be replaced with LED or CFL technology, containing the
Energy Star® symbol.

When compared to Incandescent lights,
LED lights:
- Use up to 90% less energy
- Last up to 30X longer, over 60,000 hours (compared to
1,500 for incandescent)
- Generate Less Heat
- Reduce CO2 Emissions
- Offer a variety of color spectrums
- Are Robust and Reliant (less delicate then incandescent)
- Have a payback period of less then 1yr in many cases
- Are Eligible for Energy Star tax credits
- Have Lower Maintenance Cost (less bulb replacement)

for CFL)
- Reduce CO2 Emissions
- Reduced environmental impact from manufacturing
- Offer a variety of color spectrums
- Switch on instantly with no delay
- Robust and reliant (much less delicate then CFL)
- Have a payback period of less then 2 yrs, in most cases.
- Lower Maintenance cost
